New USCIS “Hold” on Many Pending Immigration Cases appears to be in Effect

This week, immigration attorneys across the country began reporting that USCIS field and asylum offices across the country were notifying applicants and attorneys that adjudications were subject to a hold. Reports indicated that this was impacting adjustment of status cases and asylum cases, but that it could be a much broader hold impacting all USCIS adjudications.

This USCIS has not announced this or provided official guidance.  However, it is believed that this hold may be the result of a new security vetting process that may be imminent. The new vetting process may require a new set of fingerprints to be done for almost all pending cases.

It is not yet known when this policy will be announced, how the policy will be rolled out, how many foreign nationals will be impacted, or how long a delay this will cause.

Law Office of Adrienne J Vaughan LLC is part of a national coalition which is monitoring this situation across the country, and we will provide updates as they are announced.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  For specific questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

In solidarity, Adrienne J Vaughan, Esq.
