India Per-Country Limit Reached in the EB-2 Category
The U.S. Department of State, in coordination with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services), has announced that all Employment-Based Second Preference (EB-2) immigrant visas for applicants chargeable to India have been issued for FY 2026. As a result, the annual per-country limit has been reached, and embassies and consulates will no longer issue EB-2 immigrant visas in these cases for the remainder of the fiscal year.
This is due to the statutory visa limits under the Immigration and Nationality Act, which caps both overall EB-2 visa availability and per-country allocations. EB-2 visa issuance for India will resume at the start of FY 2027 on October 1, 2026, when new visa numbers become available.
